Video Introductionhttps://vimeo.com/278563306
As a past Outward Bound instructor, ski coach, ski instructor and river guide, Saul has coached in one way or another for over 25 years. After working in the tech industry for several years, Saul opened Mad Dawg School of Fitness, in Redwood City CA, in 2006. He recently closed his gym and moved with his wife, their many cats and even more bikes, to Reno.

Saul incorporates many different tools, inlcuding barbells, kettlebells, Indian Clubs, sandbags, steel maces, several body weight systems like Origianl Srength and Animal Flow into a unique stregth and conditioning methodology that is movement-focused and education-driven.

What to expect: Your first appointment will be focussed on assessment. We will talk about your goals, your previous exercise experiences, prior injuries. We'll do the Functional Movment Screen and a core assessment and then come up with a 5 minute warm-up routine specifically for you. If we decide we are a good fit, the way we will progress will be to start from the inside (i.e. "the core") and work out, start from the ground and work up. Most athletes will progress to a some form of loaded squat, loaded hinge, building straight arm strength and loaded carries.

Saul specializes in helping athletes who have been injured and under the care of a licensed health care pratitioner "return to play." Athletes who have been successful with Saul include:
* A 45 year old woman with long-term back pain trained to complete a 10 day trip on the John Muir Trail
* A 65 year old male CFO learned to manage back pain so he can return to skiing and golf regularly
* A 32 year old software engineer and 40 year old father of two and business owner trained to compete in their first weighlifting meet
* A 45 year old mother of 3 and business owner with chronic shoulder pain can now do cartwheels and put her luggage in the overhead compartment
* Lead several groups training for events like Tough Mudder, Go Ruck and hiking up Half Dome

* Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) Level 1 (Level 2 – in progress)
* Rock Tape Fascial Movement Taping (FMT Level I and II)

Jeremy Oleson

I’m Jeremy Oleson, I’m 26 years old and I was born and raised in Reno. I’m a father to a 2 year old girl and I enjoy motorcycles and spending time with friends and family. I’m a competitive power lifter that currently holds the 16th highest total of all time for the 308 weight class, with a total of 2249.5 pounds. This total is also in the top 100 highest totals of all time in any weight class. I have squatted over 900 pounds in competition along with benching over 500 pounds and deadlifting over 850 pounds in competition as well. I’ve competed in strong man competitions as well. Over the last year, I have really enjoyed learning Post Operative rehabilitation training. I have had the privilege of working closely with John Bird, inventor of Electric Weight and Tamara Lopes, owner of American Iron Gym. Together we have worked with local orthopedic surgeons to assist in the preparation and post operative care for those undergoing surgery.

Biomechanics has been a passion of mine for over a decade. I’ve used this passion to learn proper form and movement and have been able to push myself and those around me to great limits.

The Group Boot Camp focuses on, in order of priority, building strength, cardiovascular endurance and overall mobility. We will use barbells, dumbbells, kettle-bells, some machines and body weight exercises.

This group is designed for all gym goers!
Overall Physical Fitness is the goal..
All levels are encouraged.
