We provide extensive training knowledge, and top of the line equipment in a community and extended family atmosphere. Our members range for 7 years old to 96 years young, including the beginning exercise enthusiast to the competitive athlete.
There are 4 separate workout areas within American Iron Gym; The "Gym" includes machines (Prime, Hammer, EliteFTS, Flex) a functional training area(TRX A frame, kettlebells, medicine balls, bands, stabilization toys, and lots more) plus Curve, Jacobs ladder and Assault bikes for an amazing HIT workout. The Training Hall", home to our Olympic platforms, Mono-Lifts, and Power Racks, competition Ivanko bars and plates, Eleiko bars and plates, and specialized bars.  "The Playground" an outdoor area with sleds, speed area, and strongman equipment. And a separate unit "The Nevada Room: (shaped like the state) with turf, power zone, and compound training.

2019 UPA West Coast Championships April 6th & 7th 2019 9am American Iron Gym 650 South Rock Blvd Event Venue Reno Nevada 89502

DIVISIONS THIS MEET IS RAW ONLY!! Teen(13-19)- Junior(20-23)- Open(13+)- Master(40+) WEIGHT CLASSES Men: 114, 123, 132, 148, 165, 181, 198, 220, 242, 275, 308, 308+ Women: 97, 105, 114, 123, 132, 148, 165, 181, 198, 198+

Masters, Juniors, and Teen will be competing in open categories against all other lifters in their age group. Placing will be determined by wilks+age points.

This will be a two day event. All Masters, Juniors, Teen, Open men under 198, and Open women under 148 will lift Saturday the 6th. Open men 220+ and Open women 165+ will lift Sunday the 7th. (This is subject to change based on number of lifters per class and division)

Early weigh-ins for Saturday lifters Friday April 5th, 9am to 10am. Continued weigh ins and early gear check for Sunday lifters Friday April 5th, 5pm to 7pm. Weigh ins for Sunday lifters Saturday April 6th 9am to 10am ONLY! If you need to make arrangements for other weigh-in times please contact us ASAP to schedule!

One-piece singlet must be worn, as a minimum for all lifters. Underwear must be "V" type legless aka "tighty whities", or jockstrap. No compression shorts or spandex allowed. Raw division: requires a one piece singlet, and allows 4 inch wide buckle or lever belt (No velcro belts or padding on the inside of the belt), wristwraps can be up to 1 meter, knee sleeves and wraps up to 3 meters are allowed. Over the calf long socks required for the deadlift for all lifters.

 

 

The VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System and American Iron Sports Foundation have partnered to create a Veteran Wellness, Strength and Powerlifting Team!

Ten Veterans will be selected to train January through June with Director, Lisa Howard, and the coaching team at American Iron Gym!

1- Read the materials linked below, particularly the Participant Expectations.

2- Fill out the Application for Veterans. Deliver the application to Lisa Howard, Director, VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System, by 4 p.m. Friday, December 28. Director’s Office, main VA hospital, 975 Kirman Avenue, Orange Elevators, 3rd Floor.

3- If you have submitted your application by the deadline, come to American Iron Gym, 650 S. Rock Blvd, on Sunday, January 6, 9:30 a.m. We will discuss the program, interview applicants, and make the selection for the 10-Veteran Team. Bring the completed Athletes Medical Information at this time.
